THE CHARM OF PARATY
The country most known for its top models and soccer players has much more to offer than the Amazon and beautiful beaches. As rich and diverse as most continents, Brazil (pronounced / brézil) is a place of many races, many landscapes and many cultures.
With Continental proportions, fifth in the world in geographical area and in population, the country is also home to mountains, plains and savannas, and to such rich culture and biodiversity that it ceaselessly attracts people from all over the world.
One of Brazil's best-kept secrets, and a constant source of inspiration for designer Carolina Sadowski is Paraty (pronounced / pa-ra-chee). Located along the coastline of Rio de Janeiro, Paraty is a preserved Brazilian Imperial village that once served as an outlet for the gold and precious stones mined in the nearby towns.
The charm of this wonderfully preserved town, however, lies on its unique architecture, cobblestone streets free of cars, constant ocean breeze and the rare beauty of its countless beaches and forests.
Not as famous as the neighbor Buzios, made popular by French muse Brigitte Bardot, Paraty maintains a certain mysterious aura and rustic surroundings that has also attracted the international crowd fascinated by such exquisite beauty.
But not only nature brings people to this charming place. For a few years now, the city has been taken over by writers and chefs, twice a year, for two of the most prestigious events in their fields: the International Literary Fair – "FLIP" and the Gastronomical Festival.
With International magnitude, and guests coming from the most diverse countries, these events have been promoting this wonderful place, transforming an ordinary circumstance into an extraordinary phenomenon: introducing the world to Paraty, and more importantly, introducing Paraty to the world.
